Strawberry Pineapple Protein Smoothie


Is there anything better than a refreshing post-workout smoothie?  Well, ok- maybe lots of things.  I'm looking at you, doughnuts... But in the interest of not reversing all the hard work you just did, here's a healthy & delicious smoothie recipe that's perfect for an after workout boost.

Both pineapple & strawberries have anti-inflammatory benefits, support immune health, & are full of antioxidants like Vitamin C.  Just one cup of pineapple can give you 105% of your Vitamin C requirements.  Strawberries also contain ellagic acid & flavonoids which help fight bad cholesterol.  Both strawberries & bananas are rich in potassium which lowers blood pressure.  Bananas also contain B6, manganese, & Vitamin C.  While bananas are high in sugar, they won't cause a blood sugar spike & can sooth the digestive track & enhance friendly gut bacteria (yummy).  Best of all?  They're all delicious! Give this smoothie a try for a delicious & healthy treat!

Strawberry Pineapple Protein Smoothie:
1/2 cup pineapple
1/4 cup strawberries
1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp flax seed (optional)

Blend all items together for about an minute (or until smooth) & enjoy!
